2017 Canada Summer Games
The 2017 Canada Summer Games were held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from July 28 to August 14, 2017. The Canada Summer Games occur every four years, and are aimed to introduce athletes to a national level competition in a multi-sport games environment. The Canada Summer Games are meant to develop athletes, coaches, and officials to their potential, or to serve as step along the pathway to a U-23 or Senior National Team.
Manitoba Rowing sends a maximum of 30 athletes to the Canada Summer Games:
- 14 athletes of each gender, plus:
- two coxswains of either gender
To be eligible to compete at any Western or Canada Summer Games, rowing athletes must be under 21 years of age in the year in which the Games are held. To be eligible for the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games, this means each athlete must be born no earlier than January 1, 1999 (this ruling also applies to coxswains).
The athlete must show dedication to the training program, and must be members in Good Standing of one of the following rowing clubs:
All athletes wishing to try out for any Western or Canada Summer Games Team(s) must express interest to Andrea Katz, Executive Director of the Manitoba Rowing Association with approval from their program and/or club Head Coach.
Training fees for the Western Canada Summer Games team have not yet been determined. Please check back to this page for updates in 2018.
