Congratulations to MRA and Winnipeg Rowing Club athlete Leah Miller for being awarded the Tom Longboat Award from the Aboriginal Sport Circle.

The Tom Longboat Awards were established in 1951 to recognize Aboriginal athletes for their outstanding contributions to sport in Canada. It remains the longest-standing and one of the most prestigious awards for Aboriginal athletes in the country. For more information about the Tom Longboat Awards, click here.

Leah is a member of the Pimicikamak Cree Nation in Manitoba. Leah, a 2022 Canada Games Rowing Team member, has achieved many successes in rowing. In 2021, she was named to Rowing Canada’s CanAmMex Next Gen Team and won bronze at the National Rowing Championships in Women’s single sculls. Leah then went on to win gold at the 2022 Rowing Canada Aviron Small Boat Trials for Junior Women’s single sculls and was selected to be a part of the Junior Women’s National Team for the U19 Junior World Championships and placed 11th.
