The MRA believes that everyone in rowing has the right to enjoy the sport at all levels of participation. Athletes, coaches, officials, umpires and volunteers have the right to participate in a safe and inclusive training and competitive environment that is free of abuse, harassment or discrimination – collectively referred to as maltreatment.
MRA believes the welfare of everyone involved in the sport is a foremost consideration and in particular the protection of children/athletes in the sport is the responsibility of each individual and member in the rowing community. As a reflection of our commitment to these beliefs, the MRA has adopted and approved the Safe Sport Manual. The Safe Sport Manual is a manual, developed by RCA, complete with all policies relating to Safe Sport. The Safe Sport Manual, effective August 1, 2021, will replace any MRA policies of similar nature – namely Appeals Policy, Discipline Policy, Harassment Policy, Code of Conduct, Social Media, Appeals and Alternative Dispute Resolution policies. The alignment of our province with others across Canada and the RCA will ensure that all Safe Sport issues are handled in the same, equitable fashion. Any questions on the Safe Sport Manual or for more information, please contact Alli at rowing@sportmanitoba.ca.
A Safe Sport specific page on the MRA site is in creation and will be completed shortly.
